Questions about EngineSASE NFVI

What is EngineSASE NFVI?

NFVI stands for network functions virtualization infrastructure. EngineSASE NFVI is the edge software platform on every EngineSASE appliance. It lets you run services such as SD-WAN and firewalling on one appliance, with centralized deployment and management.

How does EngineSASE NFVI compare with dedicated appliances?

Dedicated appliances typically run one network function each. EngineSASE NFVI runs supported network functions side by side on one appliance, so you can add compatible services at a site without adding hardware, and manage them centrally across customers.

Does running several network functions on one appliance affect performance?

Performance depends on the appliance model and the services you run. We'll help you match the hardware to each site's services, performance needs, and budget, and you can add compatible services as capacity allows.

Is one appliance a single point of failure?

Sites can connect over multiple links with automatic failover, and switch to a backup hub if a hub becomes unavailable. If a change disconnects an appliance, it is rolled back automatically. For sites that need additional resilience, we'll review redundancy options with you.

Is EngineSASE NFVI complex to deploy and operate?

Appliances retrieve their configuration automatically through zero-touch provisioning. You deploy, update, and manage network functions centrally from the orchestrator, through a web interface with no command line to learn.

How are network functions kept secure on a shared appliance?

Each network function runs separately from the others on the appliance, and is deployed and updated centrally. Updates are signed, so each appliance runs verified software, and management actions are recorded in an audit trail.

Am I locked into one vendor?

Choose an EngineSASE appliance or a supported uCPE model from another manufacturer, and choose from the EngineSASE catalog of supported network functions. The catalog is growing; ask us about the functions your customers need.
